About the Role

Veeam is seeking a Head of National Security Policy to serve as the senior-most technical authority for Veeam's full portfolio of government-facing products. This leader will define the technical strategy for how Veeam's data resilience and data security platforms β€” including Securiti AI's federal offering β€” are architected, deployed, and certified within U.S. government environments. The role carries a heavy near-term focus on Securiti AI Federal, where this person will work with engineering to drive the technical roadmap, integration architecture, and compliance posture required for the platform to operate inside classified and controlled federal networks.

This is a hybrid role: equal parts deep technical credibility with government network architectures and AI system deployment, and direct engagement with the engineering teams building for this market. The Head of National Security Policy reports directly to Veeam's corporate CTO and works in daily collaboration with Veeam's government strategy, sales, and solutions engineering leadership to align product direction with mission needs.

What You Will Do

Government Network & Compliance Strategy

Serve as Veeam's principal technical authority on U.S. government network architectures, including DoD, IC, and civilian agency environments, air-gapped and classified networks, and cross-domain solutions.

Work with engineering on the technical strategy and execution for FedRAMP High, DoD IL5, and IL6 authorization across Veeam's public sector product lines, partnering with compliance, security, and ATO stakeholders to reach and sustain accreditation.

Translate evolving federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, DoD SRG, NIST 800-53, CMMC, StateRAMP) into concrete architecture and engineering requirements.

Represent Veeam in agency technical reviews, security assessments, and authorizing official (AO) engagements as the senior technical sponsor.

AI Deployment & Integration, with a Focus on Securiti AI Federal

Drive the technical strategy for deploying AI and data-security capabilities β€” including Securiti AI's federal product line β€” inside government network boundaries, covering model hosting, data classification, data residency, and secure integration patterns.

Help define the architecture for how Securiti AI Federal integrates with Veeam's broader data resilience portfolio and with agency-owned infrastructure, identity systems, and data platforms.

Guide decisions on where and how AI workloads can run within federal boundaries (on-prem, air-gapped, GovCloud, IL5/IL6 environments) and the security controls required at each layer.

Stay ahead of federal AI governance requirements (e.g., agency AI use policies, model risk management, data provenance) and ensure Veeam's roadmap anticipates them rather than reacts to them.

Engineering & Team Leadership

Support efforts to build, lead, and grow a dedicated public sector development organization, guiding technical direction, engineering standards, and delivery cadence.

Recruit and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers with backgrounds in federal/government systems, secure software development, and AI infrastructure.

Establish secure SDLC practices appropriate for FedRAMP and DoD authorization boundaries, including change management, continuous monitoring, and POA&M remediation workflows.

Partner with Veeam's corporate engineering and product organizations to ensure public sector requirements are reflected in the core product roadmap rather than maintained as permanent forks.

Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration

Act as the primary technical counterpart to Veeam's government strategy and go-to-market leadership, translating agency and partner requirements into product and engineering commitments.

Collaborate closely with Veeam's corporate CTO organization to align public sector architecture with overall platform strategy, security posture, and roadmap.

Support sales, solutions engineering, and channel/OEM partners in technical discussions with agency customers, integrators, and FedRAMP third-party assessment organizations (3PAOs).

Present technical strategy and program status to Veeam executive leadership and, as needed, to agency and partner stakeholders.

What You Bring

Government Experience (Core Requirement)

15+ years in technical or engineering leadership roles, with the substantial majority of that career spent inside the U.S. government technology ecosystem β€” not adjacent to it.

Direct, hands-on experience within the Intelligence Community: architecting, deploying, or operating systems within IC networks and security boundaries, and working fluency in IC-specific accreditation, data handling, and cross-domain requirements.

Direct experience within the Department of War (formerly the Department of Defense) or its components: combatant commands, services, or defense agencies, including familiarity with DoW network architectures, RMF/ATO processes, and mission-owner requirements at the tactical and enterprise level.

Meaningful experience on the federal civilian side (e.g., DHS, DOJ, DOS, HHS, Treasury, VA, or similar), understanding how technical strategy, procurement, and authorization differ from defense and IC environments.

A career that spans at least two of these three worlds (IC, DoW, federal civilian)
